Sorolla Museum
The house and studio of the painter Joaquín Sorolla, the great painter of Spanish sunshine, are now a little museum with a lovely garden in the middle of Madrid.
History of the museum
Joaquín Sorolla built his house in 1910 and lived there with his family until he died in 1923. His widow, Clotilde, left the house and its paintings to the Spanish state, and it opened as a museum in 1932. Some of the garden was designed by Sorolla himself, in the style of Andalusian gardens.
