Blue Interior
Harriet Backer · 1883
Why it's great
A woman sits in a dim room, with deep blue shadows and soft, warm light. Harriet Backer was one of Norway's most important painters, and was famous for painting the glow of light inside a room. She taught many younger artists. It's one of the most beautiful pictures of indoor light in Norwegian art.
