Why it's great
A folding fan painted with little portraits of artist friends. Asta Nørregaard, one of Norway's first professional women painters, worked in Kristiania (now Oslo) and was a supporter of other artists. A fan like this was a playful gift to remember friends. It's an unusual and charming piece of art.
