Midsummer Dance
Anders Zorn Β· 1897
Why it's great
Villagers in folk costumes dance outdoors on a summer evening in the Swedish region of Dalarna, with a golden light and music. Anders Zorn painted this in 1897, and it became one of Sweden's most loved paintings. Midsummer is the biggest holiday in Sweden. It's a happy picture of dancing under the northern sun.
