Medusa
Alexej von Jawlensky Β· 1923
Why it's great
A mask-like face with big eyes and bold patches of green, blue, pink and yellow stares out. Alexej von Jawlensky painted many such faces in the 1920s, mixing the look of Russian icons with modern color.
