Melancholy

Lucas Cranach the Elder Β· 1532

Why it's great

A winged woman sits on a step, sharpening a stick, while children play with a hoop and a group of riders gallops through the sky. Lucas Cranach the Elder painted it in 1532, and the dark mood is called melancholy.
