Miracle of the Cross at the Bridge of S. Lorenzo
Gentile Bellini · 1500
Why it's great
A crowd leans from boats and bridges to see a relic of the cross that was dropped in a Venice canal. Gentile Bellini painted it in about 1500, and the buildings are the Venice of his day.
