St. Augustine in His Study
Vittore Carpaccio Β· 1502
Why it's great
A saint sits in his study, with a rich room of books, a globe and musical instruments, as he stares up in wonder. Vittore Carpaccio painted it in about 1502, and the details of the room make it a fascinating glimpse of a scholar's life.
