Miracle of the Holy Cross at the Rialto Bridge
Vittore Carpaccio Β· 1494
Why it's great
A crowd of people in Venice stands on balconies and gondolas around the old wooden Rialto Bridge, where a miracle is happening. Vittore Carpaccio painted it in about 1494, and it shows what the city looked like at the time.
