Lamentation over the Dead Christ

Pietro Perugino Β· 1495

Why it's great

Mary, John and Mary Magdalene mourn over Christ's body, set in a landscape with a calm sky. Pietro Perugino painted it in about 1495, and the quiet feeling is typical of him.
