The Embarkation of the Queen of Sheba

Claude Lorrain Β· 1648

Why it's great

A queen goes down a grand flight of steps to board a ship in a sunny harbor with huge buildings. Claude Lorrain painted it in 1648, and the glow of the low sun lights the whole port.
