The Floating Feather
Melchior d'Hondecoeter Β· 1680
Why it's great
A white swan, a duck and other birds react to a feather that floats down onto the water. Melchior d'Hondecoeter painted it in about 1680, and a floating feather is a sign of this painter's charming wit.
