Shanghai Museum
A museum in the shape of an ancient bronze vessel on People's Square, with fine Chinese bronzes, ceramics, calligraphy and paintings.
History of the museum
It was founded in 1952, and moved in 1996 to its current building, a round-topped structure on a square base, which echoes the Chinese ideas of a round heaven and square earth. It is best known for its ancient bronzes and ceramics.
