Low Church Devotion (1852)
Adolph Tidemand Β· 1852
Why it's great
Another version of Tidemand's scene of a farmhouse prayer gathering, with a dim room, simple clothing and serious faces. Tidemand painted several versions because the first was so popular. The soft light on the faces and the quiet atmosphere are moving. It's a picture of faith in Norwegian rural life.
