The Return of the Bear Hunter
Adolph Tidemand · 1862
Why it's great
A hunter returns home with a bear he's killed, as the family and villagers greet him. Adolph Tidemand painted scenes of Norwegian rural life that were popular across Europe. The hunter is a hero. It's a scene from a harsh but proud way of life.
