Paradise
Jacopo Tintoretto Β· 1588
Why it's great
Hundreds of saints, angels and ordinary people swirl around in the clouds in this giant painting, which fills the whole end wall of a council hall. Jacopo Tintoretto painted it in 1588, and it is one of the biggest oil paintings in the world.
