Saint George and the Dragon

Paolo Uccello Β· 1470

Why it's great

A knight on a white horse stabs a dragon, while a princess leads the monster away on a string like a pet. Paolo Uccello painted it in the 1470s, and the sky, with a swirly storm cloud, adds to the drama.
