Venus and Mars
Sandro Botticelli Β· 1485
Why it's great
Mars, the god of war, sleeps deeply while Venus watches him, and little satyrs play with his armor and blow a shell in his ear. Sandro Botticelli painted it in about 1485, and the lesson is that love is stronger than war.
