Idealized Portrait of a Lady (Portrait of Simonetta Vespucci as Nymph)

Sandro Botticelli Β· 1482

Why it's great

A woman with long, golden braids turns her head to the side, wearing a gauzy gown. Sandro Botticelli painted this around 1482, and it may show Simonetta Vespucci, the most celebrated beauty in Florence, as a nymph.
