The Bottle of Anís del Mono

Juan Gris · 1914

Why it's great

A bottle, a glass and a newspaper sit on a table broken into overlapping pieces. Juan Gris, a Spanish artist who worked in Paris, painted this in 1914 as a Cubist picture, which shows an object from different sides at once.
