The Bridge at Villeneuve-la-Garenne

Alfred Sisley Β· 1872

Why it's great

A bridge crosses the Seine, with boats and trees, in a pale blue sky and soft light. Sisley painted the peaceful river in the Impressionist style. The colors are fresh and cool. It's among his best-known paintings.
