Jerusalem

Jean-Léon Gérôme · 1867

Why it's great

The holy city shines golden in the late sun, seen from the Mount of Olives. Gérôme visited the Middle East and painted the scene with great fidelity. Its calm and glowing mood makes the city feel timeless. It's a majestic view.
