Saint Sebastian
Antonello da Messina Β· 1478
Why it's great
Saint Sebastian, pierced with arrows, is tied to a column in a town square, and the street behind him goes on and on. Antonello da Messina painted it in about 1478, and the perspective of the street is wonderfully exact.
