Advent and Triumph of Christ

Hans Memling Β· 1480

Why it's great

Dozens of tiny scenes of Jesus's life run through a wide landscape, with towns, roads and trees across the picture. Hans Memling painted this in about 1480, and it is like a big storybook page.
