The Last Judgment

Hans Memling Β· 1469

Why it's great

A huge triptych shows Judgment Day, with the archangel Michael weighing souls and people rising from their graves. Hans Memling painted it in about 1469, and the Italian ship that carried it to Italy was captured by pirates.
