The Bean King
Jacob Jordaens Β· 1640
Why it's great
A big, jolly family and their friends crowd around a table to celebrate Twelfth Night, with a man in a paper crown shouting 'The king drinks!' Jacob Jordaens painted it in about 1640, and the person who got the bean in their cake was king for the night.
