Christ in the House of Martha and Mary

Johannes Vermeer Β· 1650

Why it's great

Christ sits at a table with a woman who listens closely, while her sister Martha brings in a basket of bread and looks irritated. Johannes Vermeer painted it in about 1655, and it is the largest painting of his career.
