Old Woman Cooking Eggs
Diego Velázquez · 1618
Why it's great
An old woman pokes two eggs in a pan on a small stove while a boy looks at her, holding a melon and a bottle. Diego Velázquez painted it in 1618, and he was only 19, and the kitchen things are painted in a wonderfully shiny way.
