Las Meninas

Diego Velázquez · 1656

Why it's great

A little princess stands among her ladies-in-waiting, dwarfs and a dog, while the painter, Velázquez, stands at a big canvas, and in a mirror at the back you can see the king and queen. He painted it in 1656, and people still ask who the painting is really about.
