The Waterseller of Seville

Diego Velázquez · 1620

Why it's great

An old man hands a glass of water to a boy, beside a large clay jar, with a fig dropping into the glass. Diego Velázquez painted it in about 1620, and the water drops on the jar are so real that you can almost feel the cool.
