The Young Beggar
Bartolomé Esteban Murillo · 1650
Why it's great
A ragged boy sits in a doorway, picking fleas from his shirt, in a patch of sunlight. Bartolomé Esteban Murillo painted it in about 1650, and the boy's bare feet and dirty clothes are shown with sympathy.
