The Girl with the Wine Glass

Johannes Vermeer Β· 1650

Why it's great

A young woman in a red dress and a man at a table, with a wine glass, as she looks out at us with a smile. Johannes Vermeer painted it in about 1659, and the light from the stained-glass window is soft.
