The Milkmaid

Johannes Vermeer Β· 1660

Why it's great

A woman in a yellow bodice and blue apron pours milk very steadily from a jug into a bowl, in a plain room with light from the window. Johannes Vermeer painted it in about 1660, and every little thing, even the bread crumbs, shines.
