Woman with a Water Jug

Johannes Vermeer Β· 1660

Why it's great

A young woman in a blue gown and a white cap opens a window with one hand and holds a jug with the other, in a quiet, light room. Johannes Vermeer painted it in about 1662, and the soft light on the cloth is beautiful.
