Girl Reading a Letter at an Open Window

Johannes Vermeer Β· 1658

Why it's great

A young woman reads a letter in front of an open window, with her reflection in the glass and a bowl of fruit on the table. Johannes Vermeer painted it in about 1658, and a painted-over Cupid on the wall was found by restorers.
