A Dutch Courtyard
Pieter de Hooch Β· 1658
Why it's great
A woman and a girl stand in a quiet brick courtyard behind a house, near a doorway and a wall with a bright blue sky. Pieter de Hooch painted it in 1658, and he loved painting the light in these yards.
