Captain George K. H. Coussmaker
Joshua Reynolds Β· 1782
Why it's great
A young officer stands at ease, leaning against a tree with his legs crossed, in a red coat. Reynolds painted the graceful pose, with a loose, dreamy background. It's one of the most elegant male portraits of its time. It's a very stylish image.
