The Ladies Waldegrave
Joshua Reynolds Β· 1780
Why it's great
Three sisters in white sit around a table, sewing and working on lace, in a quiet sunlit room. Reynolds painted them in 1780 with elegant ease. The soft light and calm are charming. It's a very popular English portrait.
