El Rio de Luz
Frederic Edwin Church · 1877
Why it's great
A broad river in South America shines in golden light, with misty green jungle and distant mountains. Church painted the 'River of Light' from his sketches in Ecuador. The warm glow of the sky is amazing. It's a luminous view of a faraway land.
