Niagara Falls, from the American Side
Frederic Edwin Church Β· 1867
Why it's great
The thundering Niagara Falls is seen from the American side, in a view with clouds of mist rising and a rainbow in the spray. Frederic Edwin Church returned to paint Niagara a decade after his first famous picture. The water seems to move in the painting. It's a different, cooler look at a famous wonder.
