A Storm in the Rocky Mountains, Mt. Rosalie
Albert Bierstadt Β· 1866
Why it's great
A huge storm swirls over a mountain peak in Colorado, with a gleam of sunlight on a lake. Albert Bierstadt, a German-born American painter, traveled west in 1863 and painted the Rockies. He named the peak after the wife of a friend. It's a dramatic and thrilling mountain scene.
