The Moneylender and his Wife
Quinten Metsys Β· 1514
Why it's great
A man weighs coins on a scale while his wife, beside him, turns the pages of a prayer book and watches the gold. Quinten Metsys painted it in 1514, and a round mirror shows a man at a window.
