Adoration of the Trinity
Albrecht Dürer · 1511
Why it's great
Crowds of saints, kings and ordinary people kneel in the clouds before the Trinity, in a picture ringed with figures. Albrecht Dürer painted it in 1511, and he included himself in the lower corner, standing near the ground with a tablet.

Albrecht Dürer was a German artist born in Nuremberg in 1471. He was a painter, but he is most famous for his woodcuts and engravings, which made him known across Europe, and for traveling to Italy to learn from Renaissance artists. He lived mostly in Nuremberg and died there in 1528.
