Museo di Capodimonte
A royal palace on a hill above Naples with the Farnese collection, including masterpieces by Titian, Raphael and Caravaggio.
History of the museum
King Charles of Bourbon began the palace in 1738, both as a hunting lodge and to house the art he had inherited from the Farnese family, which came from his mother. It became a museum of the Italian state in 1957 and is set in a huge royal park.
