Starry Night

Edvard Munch Β· 1893

Why it's great

A calm, blue night with a glowing, shimmering sea and a few stars, and a pair of faint figures on the shore. Munch painted this in 1893, before Van Gogh's version was famous. The swirling blue sky is full of mood. It's a lesser-known night scene.
