The Three Philosophers

Giorgione Β· 1500

Why it's great

Three men in robes stand near a cave at sunset, one of them holding a piece of paper with a drawing of the sun and moon. Giorgione painted it in about 1500, and nobody is sure who they are, which makes it a famous puzzle.
