The Lacemaker

Johannes Vermeer Β· 1669

Why it's great

A young woman bends her head over her tiny lace work, with threads falling from a sewing cushion, in a small canvas. Johannes Vermeer painted it in about 1669, and the red and white threads are blurred in the front while the work is sharp.
